When we heard there was a new ice creamery opening nearby-by with ice cream flavors inspired by travel, Gurls Luv Grub HAD to check it out! Since we are two gurls who love to travel, we were instantly drawn in by their concept and taken down memory lane to all of the countries we have traveled in our own personal adventures.
Adrienne Nicole Borlongan is the designer of Wanderlust Creamery. Not only is she the visionary of this boutique ice cream shoppe, she’s also a food scientist! She was inspired by her own childhood memories, the places she’s been, and the places she has yet to go…simply the feelings of wanderlust. All of the ice cream is either dairy-free or made from 100% organic milk.
The menu features flavors from Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines, France, the Mediterranean, and our own backyard! There are over 20 toppings and the ice cream cones and macaroons are hand-made in-house. Their ice-cream cones are a must-try, simply because they are so unique. While the menu changes, they make ice cream cones from brown butter vanilla, chocolate, black sesame, and even Ube (flavors of the Philippines!).
I decided the try the Ferrero Rocher ice cream…yes, exactly like the Ferrero Rocher chocolates you see during the holidays! And let me just say, it tastes exactly like the candy! I decided to try the ice cream as a macaroon sandwich, and while it was good, it didn’t look as good as Julie’s ice cream cone! The ice cream was on-point with the flavor and the macaroon was spot-on. It was enough to keep me satisfied (although I always want more ice cream!)
Julie got the honey lavender ice cream with the rose crystals on top in a butter vanilla cone. The rose crystals were a nice crunchy touch to the smooth and sweet taste of the lavender. The ice cream cone was the perfect amount of the sweet, without over taking the flavor of the ice cream.
The Wanderlust décor was perfectly shabby chic. It was clean and the staff will allow you to try every flavor your heart desires. Do not be afraid of flavors that may seem odd because they are all delicious. I am amazed at how spot-on Wanderlust can create their flavors. Wanderlust should be expecting regular visits from us! GLG approved!
